There is no such thing as bugless software. Even after reasonably intense beta-testing, a lot of the bugs still show themselves only in real-world practical use. One simply cannot foresee every single situation that would trigger an error or a crash. The objective is to do your best to reveal and clap as many bugs as possible before the final release. Many companies prefer to instead send patches down the road after the release, I agree. I do, however believe, that Windows and other Microsoft products could have been much more stable and reliable had some of the profits been invested in the improvement of the software, rather than Bill Gates’ lavish personal living. I think there’s not much software vendors can do besides the usual letting people rate and review products.
