I’ve tried over a dozen web portfolio managers. However, most only track total gains for the initial investment and does not have a way to break out how much my gains are for a specific year. Is there a good tool or software out there in the market either for free or for purchase?

Yes, morningstar has portfolio tracking that can do what you describe. Once you create a porfolio, you can create a my view that includes your choice of criteria, including gains for each of the recent years separately.
