    NO.

You either need to format or use 3rd party software.

If you created two partitions and is only using one, then you can create more partitions in the one that you are not using. Go to start, control panel, Administrative Tools, Disk Management.

If that is not the case and you do not want to buy software, then
if your hard drive is greater than 40MB, you must reinstall Windows Home/XP.

During the installation, you select. Install New System, then delete all partitions, make as many [artitions that you want on the disk before you select the one for Windows to be installed into.
    Format that partition into NTFS.

READ THE SCREEN, too you must have a valid copy of a windows home/XP with the Registration Number.

yes it is possible to partition the harddisk without using any third party software. But after you partition the hard disk you should always format the disc.Even if you dont format on the first usage of the new partition you will asked to format it.

For partitioning Right click on My Computer and select manage
from the new popped up screen select disk management.

Your hard disk partition structure is shown in the right side of the window.you can create or delete new partitions from here

Yes it is possible with Microsoft Windows XP Setup program but it will format your disk so I can recommend you to use Acronis Disk Director Suite. It can resize, move, copy, split, and merge partitions without losing your data and it has a friendly interface so you won’t have any trouble using it. Visit Disk Director site for more info:

if you want ot partition the drive where windows is installed then no, coz it’s not allowed. Use 3d party partitioning software, it’s easy, and quite fast. i’d recomend to look at disk director, very good one.
