How to market software products easily?. How to know what kind of software is used by majority of people?

    I used to work for a software company. Create a lite version and stick on the pirate sites and newsgroups. Get people using it. If they like then you will sell the full versions. If you are thinking they will just use the pirate versions, they will get your stuff if they like it anyway and use it. You will sell the same amount. However you get better exposure.

    The reality is when IT people get to play with things and use them, they will recommend them to bosses to purchase.

    Check experts-exchange.com and others to see if people are having issues or using your tool for problem resolution.
