when marketing to business, it works in almost direct opposite of marketing to consumers, focus as follows,
- performance of your product (70%)
- emotion of your brand/ product (30%)
- You need to provide benchmarks to key competitors’ products, such as,
i) price (least important)
ii) cost effectiveness
iii) product uniquness (but must be correlated to business functions)
iv) ease of rolling out the system
v) low learning curves
vi) compatibility with suppliers and customers’ existing system
vii) Ask your own suppliers to help test the system (for free) and provide the results to customers
…
- Play on the emotion aspect,
i) It help ease decision makers’ uneasiness if your company is a strong brand in this field, as the decision makers can push blame during corporate chopboard meetings when the s/w fails to meet expectation
ii) If its a new company, then it pays to spend more on advertising and providing free lessons to interested parties and have their testimony ready in presentation and corporate website to provide re-assurance.
