I am currently attending a online university for software development. I have been searching for an internship in my area to help me gain experience. In my search, I have found that a few companies want interns to have attended a program accredited by the ABET. I have been getting mixed answers regarding whether or not ABET accreditation is mandatory for most jobs in software engineering. I live in the Huntsville, Alabama area and there is a very brisk IT market here. I would like to know if I should transfer to a program that has ABET accreditation or continue where I am. I also learned that this type of accreditation is relatively new and most software engineers did not get an education accredited by the ABET.

I’m going to school for web design, and obviously the industry standard is Dreamweaver. I do affiliate marketing, and I’m looking for a program, or site (similar to weebly.com?) that I’m able to make extremely simple websites, with a web 2.0 look.

Can anyone recommend softwware or a website that is easy to use, free, and is similar to weebly.com templates/ web2.0 look.

Are there any plug and play server softwares on the market that would let me set up a video site like youtube.com? Including Flash conversion and tagging, user accounts and similiar videos and so on. I’d be interested in anything, even if it’s just basic functionality.
Actually I’m talking about server software, database plus application logic, something like Wordpress or Gallery or a forum. Or a content management system. So I’m looking for something that I can install on my server. Thanks in advance!

For developing a marketing/info website (for commercial purposes), I feel I can develop on edit software such as Freeway or Rapidweaver and thus save much cost. But I wonder what I give up from more robust solution like portal management system or even paying professional service provider?

I have in mind a strong business model of a family of internet website. I have a background in marketing. I would have to join with a web designer but I decided to go on my own. I am PC litterate. Is it enough to master Dreamweaver? I’m planning to make 60K a year with my concept. Right now, I have time, I have been laid off from a start-up 2 weeks ago. I am doing some consulting marketing for a family member and they want to have a website that they can easily customize when necessary. Two website services that caught my eye were Homestead.com and Yahoo.com. Both of them provide templates to build websites off of, both have simple software for design purposes, and both seem to offer e-mail and domain names. Although I could personally use website design software like Dreamweaver, I want my family member to be able to make simple changes without my help, thus why I am interested in one of these sites compared to other web hosting sites like GoDaddy.com.
Of these two that have templates and web design software, who would you choose? Please provide a little comparison to justify your recommendation.

Although I appreciate the help thus far, I would like for contributors to focus on the question; for instance, if you are going to recommend a separate site other than the two I asked about please tell me why you prefer that one over the mentioned ones.
